Thanks for your comment, Anne-Marie. Wouldn't it be an amazing world if more people understood that "this is the way life works"?

All the best for continued learning and amazing insights on your journey.

Thanks Kevin for your comments. You are so right in that many people have no idea what they have done to 'wrong' another. I remember a friend of mine, on the advice of his counselor, telling his father that he forgave him for what he had done when he was a small boy. Much to his frustration, his father had no idea what he was talking about.

What I have learned is that abuse and violence are so endemic within many cultures that it is seen as 'normal' behaviour. I learned long ago that the 'buck' stopped with me in this regard, which sent me down the road of forgiveness. As my 'reward', not only have I learned a tremendous amount about the harm we unwittingly do to others, the hurts we harbour within ourselves that can lead to bitterness that only we can heal, but also how to be compassionate with others as well as ourselves. It has been a truly amazing journey. That 'botannical garden' is becoming more of a reality. I know I will be growing until the day I depart this planet.

Best wishes for your own journey in this regard.

Great blog post and so true. As I have learned, forgiveness is more for me than the other person, as they may not have a clue at "wronging me" in the way they did. Glad you quit being a victim and shed the onion skins of past issues. We all do.

We should all realize that failure is about growth. You can't build new muscles until you tear down the old ones.

Grow, baby, grow.

In reply to Kerry Stead, thank you for your comments. I research and write my own articles, many of which I provide free on this blog. My aim is to develop greater awarenes of how we treat each other and the ripple-effect our actions can have within families and society.

I am extremely impressed together with your writing skills and also with the structure for your blog. Is this a paid subject or did you modify it your self? Anyway stay up the nice quality writing, it's rare to see a great weblog like this one nowadays.
